You know what time it is?
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE TIME!
Okay so that’s my one basic vice coming out… And let’s be real, for those of us living in Texas, fall is a cruel joke. I still buy my annual pumpkin spice latte, don’t get me wrong. Inevitably it always ends up making me break into a sweat–unless I order it iced. But totally worth it!
Now, onto the fall fun!! Below are two of my TOP autumn reads. You can find the full list by signing up for my newsletter below. By singing up, you’ll also get access to giveaways, more seasonal book recommendations, and sneak peaks into the backstory for my Hybrid Series.
Without further ado, here are some of the books I’ve been reading and loving. Starting with…
Fire and Ash by Gillian Bronte Adams
The Scorpio Races meets The Last Namsara.
If you’re a horse-lover you will devour this novel with elemental horses! Even if you’re not, you’ll still love this book! As is evident by the fact that Fire and Ash won the Book of the Year award in 2021 from Realm Awards.
I am still blown away by how Gillian managed to spin a fast-paced epic fantasy story with THREE points of view where I am on the edge of my seat for each POV. The rich world building, gorgeous prose, plot twists, and danger at every corner, will have you finishing this book in days.
**Attention Gillian, if you’re reading this, WHEN CAN WE EXPECT BOOK TWO??**
The Shadow of What was Lost by James Islington
Epic fantasy you’ll actually finish.
I tried to be a Wheel of Time fan, I really did. But when Audible messed up my spot and I couldn’t find it again amidst the MANY chapters I just gave up.
If you’re looking for an epic fantasy novel that’s manageable (just three books) that will keep you engaged from start to finish, I recommend you start here. I will warn you, each book is still large enough to use as a stepping stool for reaching those back pantry shelves. But don’t be alarmed! The story is so good you will actually finish!
Hopefully you can take time to curl up with a hot drink, soft blanket, and do some reading this fall.
