Author Visits with Candace Kade
Beam Me Into Your Classroom!
Thank you for considering inviting me to your school, homeschool collective, or intergalactic learning pod. Growing up, I remember how thrilling it was to read books and hear about authors—it felt like getting a glimpse into another universe. Those moments fueled my imagination and inspired my journey as a writer of young adult sci-fi adventures! I’m the author of Enhanced (Book one in The Hybrid Series) and Hybrid (Book two in The Hybrid Series) which are both family friendly novels recommended for students twelve and up.
I offer both in-person visits (Earth-based schools only) and virtual transmissions (Via Zoom), complete with presentations designed for middle school through high school.
Here’s what to expect:
- High-tech Presentations: I bring interactive slideshows packed with visuals and inspiration. For in-person visits, your school will need to provide a digital projector and screen. If presenting to a large crowd (think gymnasium or spaceship hangar), a microphone might also be necessary.
- Mission Duration: Each presentation runs about 45 minutes and includes time for students to ask me their burning questions—whether about writing, sci-fi worlds, or what it was like for me growing up in China.
- Post-Mission Book Signing: If I’m visiting in person, we can schedule time for a book signing after the presentations.
- Stellar Knowledge Vault: Also included in author visits is the Enhanced Interactive Workbook for teachers (download your copy at the bottom of this page). The workbook includes discussion questions and touches on the science and technology included in my novel.

What reviewers are saying about Enhanced
The novel excels in its portrayal of an unequal, divided society obsessed with social status and genetic modifications, with technology present in every aspect of life… Urban’s story flourishes in twists and turns that intrigue and engage.
– Kirkus
Enhanced is a thrilling read that will have teens clamoring for the next in the series. This dystopian, futuristic society looks at what could happen when genetic engineering is uncontrolled and only the rich have access to it. Great for book clubs, the plot leaves room for deep discussion about class differences, equity, and ethics while keeping the action rolling.
– Melissa Grzybowski, Head Librarian of Youth Services, Pflugerville Public Library
Enhanced is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Candace Kade’s debut novel will draw readers into the wonderfully inventive urban sci-fi setting of New Beijing, filled with bot professors, social scores, and genetic enhancements. The story is a fast-paced blend of action, adventure, and mystery that kept me reading chapter after chapter. I loved Urban’s story and cannot wait to find out what happens next.
